🔼 Sprint to a Spectacular Finish. The Roadrunners closed up shop at the 96th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and Bobcat Invitational on Saturday, saving some of the biggest performances for last. Led by the sprinters on the final day of this week’s competition, the UTSA track & field teams delivered several winners to cap off the week.

After a flurry of multi-day meets to open the outdoor season, the Roadrunners will catch their first break of the campaign, seeing an off week on the slate next week. UTSA will return to action on April 12-13 with a trip to Southern California for overlapping dates at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa and the Beach Invitational.

🔼 What’s the Bruzz? Daniela Abonce posted her second top-10 finish of the season to guide the UTSA women’s golf team to fourth place at The Bruzzy, which wrapped up Sunday at Dornick Hills Golf & Country Club (par 70/6,071 yards). Abonce tied for ninth place to help the Roadrunners register their second straight and fifth overall top-five showing of the 2023-24 campaign.

UTSA finished with an 873 (290-281-302) to place fourth in the 13-team field, two shots ahead of a tie for fifth between No. 44-ranked North Texas and Oklahoma. The Roadrunners also finished ahead of Texas Tech (876), Minnesota (880), Kent State (884), and No. 28 Purdue (889) in the top 10.

🔼 Hays’ Homer Not Enough. Despite a home run from sophomore Madi Hays, the UTSA softball team fell 8-2 to Memphis in an American Athletic Conference series finale on Saturday at Roadrunner Field.

After winning games on Thursday and Friday, UTSA secured their first series win since taking 2-of-3 from UTEP in March of 2023 and will look to keep the momentum going as they visit Beaumont with a matchup against Lamar slotted for Tuesday at 4 p.m.

🔼 Incoming Madness. UTSA Roadrunners are getting a sneak preview of what’s to come in men’s hoops, as recently hired head coach Austin Claunch is still wrapping things up in a big way in his current position as Alabama assistant basketball coach.

Mark Sears made seven 3-pointers, and Alabama recovered from its early shooting woes from beyond the arc with 16 treys to beat Clemson 89-82 on Saturday night, punching their ticket to the Final Four.

The Tide (25-11) will face defending national champion UConn on Saturday in Glendale, Arizona.
